چکیده
PurposeCurrent commercially available EVLP solutions are designed to mimic physiological conditions support donor lungs outside of the human body. These have been effective at offering for donated after brain death but they limited in their ability cardiac death. To characterize hemodynamics utilizing altered purpose enhancing lung viability, a research device was devised.MethodsThe (fig. 1) is composed an incubator control ambient temperature, blood reservoir with oxygenator, continuous flow pump head, sensor, temperature and pressure transducers. Blood controlled by pumping sous vide water from into oxygenator. All sensors fed custom box signals displayed on Labview. A porcine harvested Glencoe, MN, flushed, chilled shipped overnight Houston, TX. Within 24 hours harvesting, perfused ventilated. Phosphate-buffered saline used perfusion rate 1.7 L/minute.ResultsAfter connected our 15 minutes, volume loss about 700 mL indicated severe edema as result extensive tissue damage stemming long duration between harvesting testing.ConclusionThe current provides ideal platform evaluate multiple that could alter outcomes. Future studies will focus effects variation, characteristics, ventilatory characteristics outcome DCD lungs. Current devised. The L/minute. After testing.

Reconditioning of lungs donated after circulatory death with normothermic ex vivo lung perfusion.
BACKGROUND The use of donation-after-circulatory-death (DCD) donors for lung transplantation has come into practice. In this study we investigated whether DCD lungs can be resuscitated after warm ischemia with normothermic ex vivo lung perfusion (EVLP). METHODS Four hours after cardiac arrest, beagle dogs were divided into two groups (n = 6 each): those with static cold storage (SCS group) an...
متن کاملThe First Experience of Ex-Vivo Lung Perfusion (EVLP) in Iran: An Effective Method to Increase Suitable Lung for Transplantation
BACKGROUND Although lung transplantation is a well-accepted treatment for end-stage lung diseases patients, only 15%-20% of the brain-dead donors' lungs are usable for transplantation. This results in high mortality of candidates on waiting lists. Ex-vivo lung perfusion (EVLP) is a novel method for better evaluation of a potential lung for transplantation. OBJECTIVE To report the first experi...
متن کاملFeasibility of Lung Transplantation From Donation After Circulatory Death Donors Following Portable Ex Vivo Lung Perfusion: A Pilot Study.
BACKGROUND Donation after circulatory death (DCD) has the potential to significantly alleviate the shortage of transplantable lungs. We report our initial experience with the use of portable ex vivo lung perfusion (EVLP) with the Organ Care System Lung device for evaluation of DCD lungs. METHODS We performed a retrospective review of the DCD lung transplantation (LTx) experience at a single i...
متن کاملComparison of lung preservation solutions in human lungs using an ex vivo lung perfusion experimental model
OBJECTIVE Experimental studies on lung preservation have always been performed using animal models. We present ex vivo lung perfusion as a new model for the study of lung preservation. Using human lungs instead of animal models may bring the results of experimental studies closer to what could be expected in clinical practice. METHOD Brain-dead donors whose lungs had been declined by transpla...
متن کاملEx vivo lung perfusion in Brazil
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the use of ex vivo lung perfusion (EVLP) clinically to prepare donor lungs for transplantation. METHODS A prospective study involving EVLP for the reconditioning of extended-criteria donor lungs, the criteria for which include aspects such as a PaO2/FiO2 ratio < 300 mmHg. Between February of 2013 and February of 2014, the lungs of five donors were submitted to EVLP for u...
